True happiness

Sinners will be condemned by God
and kept apart from God’s own people.
The righteous are guided and protected by the LORD,
but the evil are on the way to their doom.
(verses 5,6)

Read Psalm 1

Try catching two tennis balls thrown at you at the same time. It’s really difficult, because your eyes can focus on only one of them. In life, you have two choices, but you can focus on only one: God or the things of this world.

We live in a busy world in which more and more demands are being placed on our time. Advertising, magazine articles and TV shows encourage us to ‘look out for number one’, to indulge ourselves, to live for the moment, to ‘do bad things unto others before they do them unto you’. Sports matches, shopping, entertainment and work are available seven days each week. It’s so easy to put God on the backburner and to plan to get back to him some other time.

But can you really afford to squeeze God out of your life? If you choose God as your friend and spend your life focused on him, you know the eternal reward waiting for you in heaven.

What’s your choice going to be? It’s got to be God every time!

Almighty and loving Father, keep me focused on living my life steadfastly worshipping you. Amen
