Trust me

17 February 2019

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

‘But I will bless the person
who puts his trust in me.
He is like a tree growing near a steam
and sending out roots to the water.
It is not afraid when hot weather comes,
because its leaves stay green;
it has no worries when there is no rain;
it keeps on bearing fruit.’
(verses 7,8)

Read Jeremiah 17:5-10

These days people often say, ‘Trust me’. But often, when they do, it is probably wise not to. But with God it is different.

There is no situation in life that God and you, and God and I, cannot face. At least, not as long as we get the order right: God and you, God and I.

To trust in God means you stake your life on him. The roots of your spirit are irresistibly drawn to him, and you draw life and strength from him no matter what faces you. When all the other people and things we tend to rely on let us down, God is always there for us.

We can trust God completely. We don’t need to do anything ‘just in case’. What God has promised, God does. And he has promised:

I will bless the person who puts his trust in me.

Lord, let me grow in you and thrive in the safety of your love. Amen.
