Witness at Christmas

9 December 2024

by Anne Hansen
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Our Australian society is not generally Christian. At one time, we could say that Australians lived in Christendom, but no longer. Many don’t know or relate to the story at Christmas – it’s just a nice story for children, in the same way as Santa Claus is – fictitious and harmless! Who is God? Everyone seems to have an idea of who a god is for them, but do they know the real God, who is the only one to offer eternal life? Christmas is a good time to share the good news of God sending his Son to Earth as a baby to live as a human and die as God!

Share the story of Christmas however you can. A small tag on a present. A card using the story of Christmas rather than secular Christmas influences. Give a child an activity telling the true story of Christmas. Put a postcard in your neighbour’s letterbox with a Christmas greeting. Send a Christmas eTract to loved ones who live distantly. Put a Christmas Christian bookmark in a book given as a gift. Add a Christmas greeting to those in aged-care facilities with their meal. There are many ways to share God’s amazing gift of his Son with those around us!

Lutheran Tract Mission has all the above resources and more … available for you to share the Christmas story in different ways. See if you can come up with other ideas, and let me know!

What an opportunity to be a witness for our Christmas love and hope!

Have a look at the LTM website at www.ltm.org.au and search Christmas.

‘This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger’ (Luke 2:12).

Anne Hansen is Lutheran Tract Mission’s Tract Development Officer.
