St Martins welcomes Senior Student Hub
St Martins Lutheran College in Mount Gambier, South Australia, has officially opened its new Senior Student Hub, with the thoughtfully designed, versatile facility set to benefit students and teachers for years to come.
Senior Operations Officer Olivia and Communications Officer Jason were delighted to represent LLL at the official opening ceremony and dedication on Thursday 27 August and to take a tour of the impressive building.
‘At the heart of this project has been a simple question: How do we best support our students as they move through the final stages of their schooling?’ Principal Alan Connah said.
‘The senior years are about growing independence, increased responsibility, and important decision-making, and we wanted to create a space that reflects that stage of life.
‘One that supports not just academic achievement, but also wellbeing, connection and a sense of belonging.
‘By bringing learning spaces, support services, and student amenities together, the hub creates a cohesive environment under one roof.’
A student focus
Across two levels, the new facility includes modern classrooms, collaborative study spaces, informal gathering areas, a forum and a student lounge complete with a ‘heat-and-eat’ kitchen.
The building’s clever design maximises natural sunlight, with students easily able to transition from pre-existing parts of the school to the new hub.
‘This building represents a commitment to creating environments that are purposeful and student-centred, ensuring our young people are well supported as they prepare for life beyond school,’ Alan continued.
Construction began during the October 2024 school holidays, with the state-of-the-art facility welcoming students at the start of the 2026 school year.
‘LLL very much helped us with the funding of this building,’ Alan said.
‘Their efforts mustn’t go unrecognised, and we thank them very much.’
