Share your memories with Lutheran Services origin stories
Do you have a connection with Salem Aged Care in Toowoomba, Queensland? The Lutheran Services Origin Stories team would love to hear your memories and reflections.
For over 90 years, Lutheran Services has supported individuals, families and communities across Queensland. Established through the vision and dedication of local Lutheran congregations, Lutheran Services now reaches more than 6,000 people across 25 locations, with over 2,200 staff delivering aged care, home care, retirement living and community services.
To honour these beginnings, Lutheran Services has launched the Origin Stories Project in collaboration with the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District (LCAQD). This initiative celebrates our shared history, acknowledges both challenges and achievements, and highlights the services founded through the faith and service of Lutheran congregations.
We are hoping to hear from former committee members, congregation supporters, and anyone with knowledge of the early development of these services. Your stories and historical photos are invaluable in preserving this legacy.

What are Origin Stories?
Origin Stories are personal memories and experiences from those who’ve been part of the journey—congregational members and friends, staff, residents, volunteers, and community members. By collecting and sharing these stories, we preserve our history for future generations and strengthen the connection between past, present and future.
