Remaining strong in faith

7 August 2025

To be strong in the Lord is to know Jesus. We all have gifts that God has blessed us with, whether it is hospitality, acts of service, gifts of grace, telling stories or listening to others – all of these can guide and point to our first love: Jesus Christ himself.

‘Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Therefore, put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand’ (Ephesians 6:10,13).

Each day we can put on the armour of God:

  • speaking words of TRUTH (being honest with those around us)
  • walking the way of RIGHTEOUSNESS (not straying from God’s guiding)
  • having a heart of PEACE (helping and caring for those in need)
  • being open to sharing our FAITH (look for opportunities to share God’s story)
  • having the knowledge of SALVATION (personal study and reflection)
  • displaying the gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control).

Our lives reflect who we are in Christ. When one person shares, cares and shows God’s goodness to those around them, the Holy Spirit is at work in hearts and lives. Don’t forget to support each other and encourage each other to remain strong in your faith in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) has many resources for personal growth, to build up your faith and become confident in sharing and witnessing to others. Explore the LTM website at www.ltm.org.au and search for ‘Christian growth’ and ‘witnessing’ to find these resources.

‘The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love’ (Galatians 5:6b).

Anne Hansen is Lutheran Tract Mission’s Tract Development Officer.
