Growing faith in children
What is ‘Confirmation’? I remember it being a huge part of my growth from a child at Sunday school to a young adult at youth group. I don’t know if things are as defined these days as they were 30 to 40 years ago. But the idea is the same. We grow from needing milk to strengthen us to having solid food and discovering how Jesus and God fit into our lives.
Do I want to grow having a relationship with Jesus? This is a huge question, and to help our children, we need them to first begin understanding how much we, as a family, know and value Jesus. How much time do we put into learning about God’s love, reading the Bible and praying?
Confirmation is when a child confirms the faith of their parents, who agreed to bring them up in faith from their baptism day. So let us surround our children with God’s love every day, praying for them and telling them how important they are to God. Put a Bible on the kitchen table and ensure it is opened daily. Discuss your faith and what you believe to help children understand the importance it holds in your life.
Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) has many resources available to grow your faith and that of your children. Check out all the resources and discover a new way to use them in your ministry to your children and family. Grow faith in your children!
‘Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint’ (Isaiah 40:31).
