Godly men shaping men

Just as women need women, men need other godly men to shape and guide them to be all that God has intended for them. Integrity is a value that should be strived for in all areas of life. To be a man of integrity is to value what is honest, true, noble, trustworthy, kind and right before thinking of any personal gain (Philippians 4:8). As these values are taken to heart, being a man of integrity integrates itself into your whole being; you become the person God intended you to be. The following are 10 ways to begin steering yourself and other men on a course toward integrity.

  1. Root yourself in God’s word (Matthew 22:37,38).
  2. Look to the positive in all situations (1 Thessalonians 5:11a).
  3. Be yourself and allow God to work through you (Proverbs 20:7).
  4. Love and live for your neighbour above yourself, ‘Live for others’ (Galatians 5:13b,14).
  5. Be honest with each other (Ephesians 4:25).
  6. Allow a friend to be open and honest with you in confidence (Ephesians 4:15,16).
  7. If you are in a relationship, be in the habit of sharing everything with your wife (Ephesians 5:33a).
  8. Take personal responsibility for yourself (Psalm 19:12b,14).
  9. If you have children, teach them (Deuteronomy 6:5–7).
  10. Be the spiritual leader in your house (Colossians 3:16).

Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) has various resources to help men build up other men in living a life for God and have integrity in their personal lives and faith walk. Explore the LTM website at www.ltm.org.au and search for men’s ministry to find resources to share and encourage each other.

‘He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God’ (Micah 6:8).

Anne Hansen is Lutheran Tract Mission’s Tract Development Officer.
