Gathering in fellowship

2 July 2024

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Since I was a little girl, I have gotten together with my Christian friends to learn more about Jesus. It started with Sunday school at age four until confirmation at age fourteen. Then, to youth groups with activities, Bible studies, camps and retreats. It continued with Lutheran Teacher’s College, onwards to teaching and Bible studies with staff and church. It continues today with teaching youth and Mainly Music, devotions at the LLL and sharing with families. In all of this, there is active participation in getting together with Christian friends, colleagues, church family and new people.

God created us to be in fellowship with each other and to learn and talk about God and his word and what he wills for our lives. Sometimes, we need to be deliberate and inventive in finding ways to share and talk about God, for this is the way to grow in faith. Even if we feel fairly strong in faith, our words and stories may encourage others who are still finding how God fits into their life. The Holy Spirit can use all ways to grow people in their faith – the best is through being in Christian relationships with others. Situations are created to allow the Holy Spirit to work.

Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) has many resources, devotions and studies to help gatherings and groups grow in their knowledge of God together. Look through the many titles and see what works in your situation with your fellowship group.

Visit the LTM website at www.ltm.org.au and search group devotions, Christian growth or men’s ministry.

‘And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching’ (Hebrews 10:24–26).

Anne Hansen is Lutheran Tract Mission’s Tract Development Officer.
