Exhibition centre ready to welcome you!

Have you visited the Church House Exhibition Centre yet?

If not – and you live in or near Adelaide or will be in the SA capital soon – why not book a tour or plan a visit to this beautiful showcase of inspirational stories about Lutherans in Australia and New Zealand and how the church serves others in our local communities and around the world?

Officially dedicated by LCANZ Bishop Paul Smith on 20 September, the Church House Exhibition Centre first opened for this year’s South Australia History Festival. However, the collection has since been expanded and now includes a full complement of stories, images, artefacts and interactive displays.

You may wish to visit with friends, family, or members of your congregation, or school or retirement living community. The exhibition centre has something of interest for women’s or men’s fellowships, youth groups, Bible study groups, confirmation classes and school students.

And for those unable to visit Adelaide, a virtual tour of the exhibition space is being developed in conjunction with Lutheran Education Australia and thanks to the support of LLL Australia. This will be available online in the coming months.

Exhibition centre coordinator Lisa McIntosh said hundreds of people – both members of the LCANZ and those with little or no connection to the church – had already visited the centre at 139 Frome Street, and that many visitors had been encouraged, excited and inspired by what they had seen.

‘People have enjoyed learning more about our church and the Lutheran faith; they have been excited to find connections with people they know or are related to through the exhibits, and they’ve also been encouraged by the examples of service and gospel-sharing that they’ve seen depicted here,’ she said.

‘This space shares the stories that reflect not only our Lutheran heritage, but also present-day ministries of faith, worship and service and future directions of the church. Our goal is to welcome not only members of the church but also to engage with the local community and visitors to Adelaide, as well as people around the world when our virtual tour is available.’
