Comfort in sickness

30 July 2024

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In times of sickness, it is easy to think that God has abandoned you. Be assured that God has not done this – he is there for you and knows your situation. God has promised to never leave you or turn away from you. He always welcomes you and continually invites you to come to him with all your worries, pain and concerns. God does not create pain or sickness; rather, he is always intent on working for your wellbeing. In the middle of your sickness and pain, God sits at your side, cradling you with his own nail-pierced hands.

He became a human being called Jesus, weak like we are. He suffered pain, loneliness, rejection and even death. He alone knows how you truly feel. He alone understands the struggles going on inside of you. With Jesus knowing all your pain and struggles, you have nothing to fear. His ears are always open to hear your cry for help and forgiveness. All your regrets are forgotten by him, purposely lost in the shadow of his cross, and you are completely forgiven by his love. Your present and your future are safe in his loving, caring hands.

If you are visiting someone who is sick or you are unwell and need comfort, Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) has many resources available to give away and read. Depending on the situation and circumstance, find the tract appropriate for you. Comfort someone today with God’s love!

Visit the LTM website at www.ltm.org.au and search for comfort and sickness.

For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones’ (Isaiah 49:13b).

Anne Hansen is Lutheran Tract Mission’s Tract Development Officer.
