Building a learning and leading culture in our congregations
The next LCANZ-wide collaborative Zoom gathering, hosted by the LCANZ district mission directors, is taking place on Wednesday 6 November.
This one-hour session on building a learning and leading culture is designed for anyone eager to explore how we can best support each other in our shared mission.
The online gathering will be held over two Zoom sessions, with daytime and evening opportunities.
Topics will include the following:
Creating a safe culture for learning
It’s okay to make mistakes! Think of Peter and the other disciples and the many times Jesus patiently taught them – and restored them when they got it wrong! (See John 21:15–19.)
Learning happens when we create space for everyone to grow. Belonging matters! Every person is a disciple, and their learning journey is valued. Encourage both personal and corporate learning experiences, and discover how the Buderim community used a community understanding project to crowd-source insights and build stronger connections.
Listening across the generations
Storytelling, personal anecdotes, small group discussions and serving together build meaningful bridges between generations. God’s people have always ‘listened across the generations’, passing on faith, hope and love in the power of the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Psalm 145:4). Learn from Buderim’s annual listening circles that bring the whole community together to hear each other’s stories.
Trialling and reviewing activities
Explore how using SWOT analyses after each event provides valuable insights and shapes future plans.
The session will expand on the ideas workshopped at the retreat and focus on how genuine mission-shaped cultural change can emerge in the LCANZ.
The district mission directors want to hear your thoughts, practices and aspirations to foster a creative and generative discussion. Most importantly, they seek to discern God’s preferred and promised future for us as a church.
