Delegates readying for first online General Synod
A team of around 50 people is making final preparations as the LCANZ steps up to its first two-part General Synod. The first part will be held as online sessions this Friday and Saturday, 1 and 2 October.
More than 360 delegates and around 30 consultants are registered to attend, most of whom have prepared for the online sessions by attending one or more of 10 practice sessions conducted by the LCANZ General Synod IT and administration teams.
The Book of Reports is available for all members to read on the General Synod website (Agenda). Some proposals will be discussed at the online sessions and others will be held over until the in-person sessions of General Synod in 2022.
The business sessions will be livestreamed. LCANZ members will be able to watch the proceedings on the Synod website (Livestream) from 8.30am ACST Friday 1 October and Saturday 2 October. They will also be able to replay parts of the sessions.
Members of the church are invited to St John’s Unley’s regular Sunday worship service on 3 October, commencing at 10.00am. This is not the Synod closing worship service, which will be held only after the in-person Synod sessions in 2022. However, the service will include the installation of the incoming LWA Executive members. This service will also be livestreamed on the Synod website (Livestream).
As is customary, congregations are invited to contribute to the General Synod offering. The recipient of the 2021 offering will be the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea, a partner church of the LCANZ. Read more, including how to make the offerings, which will be accepted until the end of October.
All members of the church are encouraged to pray as delegates and LCANZ officials and support teams prepare for a Synod unlike any other in the LCA’s history.
