Time – God’s opportunity

29 November 2019

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

But we wait for what God has promised: new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will be at home.

And so, my friends, as you wait for that Day, do your best to be pure and faultless in God’s sight and to be at peace with him. Look on our Lord’s patience as the opportunity he is giving you to be saved, just as our dear friend Paul wrote to you, using the wisdom that God gave him.  (verses 13-15)

Read 2 Peter 3:1-18

Noah was given time to get the boat ready, so that he and his family could be saved.

Joseph was given time in Egypt, so that he and his family could be saved in the time of drought.

Job was given time in tragedy after tragedy, so that he could wrestle with the Lord and know him better.

Mary was given time with Elizabeth, so that they could together share the joy of the Saviour’s coming.

John the Baptist was given time in the desert, so that he could proclaim the Lord’s coming.

We are given time as an opportunity, so that we and those around us can come to know Jesus and be saved.

Father, Son and Spirit, claim my time today. Help me see the opportunities to speak and act for you, so that others can be saved. Amen
