Eternal Survival

10 November 2019

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

‘And Moses clearly proves that the dead are raised to life. In the passage about the burning bush he speaks of the Lord as “the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” He is the God of the living, not of the dead, for to him all are alive.’          (verses 37,38)

Read Luke 20:27-38

The constable was shot six times through the windscreen of her car. Could you believe it? Amazingly, she survived! Enough pellets normally to kill someone had entered her body. Imagine her incredible surprise and delight to find out that she was still alive.

Life throws its pellets of pain into our bodies through sickness, trauma, heartache, grief and loss. And death is the final assault – enough to kill us once and for all. We struggle to believe what the word clearly tells us: because of Jesus we can live forever!

‘Nothing can separate us from the love of God.’ Not even a sure-fire death pellet. God is the God of the living. You are a child of the resurrection.

Give me the grace, Lord, to believe this most preposterous truth: Jesus lives and I can live for ever. Oh, how great is your magnificent love. Amen.
