LLL supports youth camping ministries
The LCA’s youth camping ministries will receive a boost of more than $200,000 over the next three years, thanks to the LLL.
The annual funding of $75,000 for 2020, 2021 and 2022 will be distributed through the LCA districts, which organise and run youth camping programs such as Christian Life Week (CLW) for young people aged between 12 and 18. Aspiring leaders from the camps are also encouraged to attend leadership training camps, conducted at churchwide and district levels.
The purpose of the grants is to attract and financially assist first-timers who wish to attend a CLW or similar camp; as well as to support other young people who wish to be a camper or a leader; to aid congregations which are experiencing financial hardship but are keen to support campers and leaders to go to a camp; and to provide funding towards the cost of staging a camp, thereby reducing attendance fees.
‘Camping ministry events such as Christian Life Weeks aim to assist and encourage young people to explore and grow in their Christian faith’, LLL Chief Executive Officer Allen Kupke said. ‘That’s why we believe it’s important that the youth of our church have these opportunities and, thanks to the loyalty of our depositors, we are pleased to be able to support them.’
