God’s faith-giving word

28 April 2019

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In his disciples’ presence Jesus performed many other miracles which are not written down in this book. But these have been written in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through your faith in him you may have life. (verses 30,31)

Read John 20:19-31

All of God’s children have questions that they ask him. The psalms are full of God’s faithful people’s questions to God: ‘Why is this happening to me, God?’ or ‘God, how long will my enemies persecute me?’ You have probably asked many questions of God throughout your life. Sometimes God will have given you a clear answer; but there would have been be some questions on which God seemed to remain silent.

It may not always be easy to understand why God has not told you more than he has. But one thing that you can be sure of is that when God speaks to you it is for a very good reason. God gives you his word so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through your faith in him you may have life.

God has answered the most important question that there is—the question of whether or not he loves you. Receive God’s word of love in Jesus, and he will strengthen you in faith and understanding.

Lord God, thank you for giving me your word. Strengthen me in trusting your Son, my Lord Jesus Christ, so that I may share life with you. Amen.
