Little witnesses share good news

12 July 2018

Every month or so for at least 10 years, a man has been coming to the Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) office in North Adelaide to pick up 500 copies of the tract entitled ‘You are a special person’.

Until a recent move to Melbourne, most days he would stand at bus stops around Adelaide during the morning peak and in the afternoons. He would hand them to people waiting for the bus and share with them that there is someone who loves them. It has been incredible to hear him tell of people who have come to know their Saviour through this ‘chance’ meeting. He is now doing the same thing in the Victorian capital and while he does not visit our office as often these days, he still sources tracts from LTM.

This is just one story of someone sharing faith through tracts.

We also hear of many people who have been touched by reading a word of comfort and peace while in hospital, in our aged-care facilities and in our schools. LTM tracts do everything from wishing people a happy birthday to challenging them to know their Lord and explaining what it means to be Lutheran.

In my 13 years of developing tracts – postcards, leaflets, bookmarks and text cards – we have printed millions of these little ‘witnesses’. Every tract has a little bit of the gospel on it – even if just a Bible reference, so as to be able to be used in public schools, too.

The LTM website contains tracts under many categories, including men’s ministry, schools, baptism, the Reformation, comfort, and Christian growth. I encourage you to go to www.ltm.org.au and see them all. There are even eTracts that can be sent via email.

LTM has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary as an outreach ministry of the LLL. It remains a donation-based ministry, with the costs of tracts having not changed over three decades.

Our electronic newsletter – LTM News – is sent quarterly to subscribers with ideas for sharing the faith and featuring new tracts. Go to the website to subscribe.

There are more than 850 tract titles and we encourage every LCA member to take one or 500 as an aid to sharing your faith.

Our tract mission is the world’s largest and many people visiting from overseas take our tracts home. We have also given permission for the church in Malaysia to translate our tracts for use in their ministry.

Use our tracts – explore how they can help the ministry of the church and use them as little witnesses. Please tell us how you have used them and the impact made on others. God bless you as you share your faith.
