Light-hearted

3 June 2018

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

For it is not ourselves that we preach; we preach Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. The God who said, ‘Let the light shine out of the darkness!’ is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God’s glory shining in the face of Christ.
(verses 5, 6)

Read 2 Corinthians 4: 1-12

God invented light. You can read all about it in the first verses of the Bible. It was one of his more astounding successes. The sun, the source of light, is at the centre of our local neighbourhood of planets. That’s why it’s called a solar system. From this sun comes warmth and light, which are essential for our lives.

God touches human hearts with light as well. Through his Spirit, he creates the warm inner glow of faith and understanding in your life. Just as the sun is at the heart of our system of planets, so the light of God bums in your heart, giving you a radiance that affects all those who come within your orbit.

Outer space can be cold and dark. Life in our fallen world can also be like that. God created light to brighten up the universe. He also sent Christ to be the light of the world, and he chose your heart to be one of his bright and shining places.

Lord, thank you for the light you’ve brought to my life through Christ. Let your light shine through me as a witness to others. Amen.
