LCA contributes to South Sudan peace statement
Sudanese and South Sudanese church leaders from around Australia have come together in Canberra in the name of peace.
The 26 leaders met under the auspices of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) on 15 and 16 May at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture. The LCA was represented by Mr James Thuok Ruei, who is the South Sudanese Ministry Lay Worker for Geelong Lutheran Parish, Victoria.
The national consultation culminated with a key statement to be delivered to the 17 May South Sudan peace talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the help of the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
