All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said. Mary remembered all these things and thought deeply about them. The shepherds went back, singing praises to God for all they had heard and seen; it had been just as the angel had told them. (verses 18-20)

Read Luke 2: 15-21

The birth of a healthy baby is an exciting event. It’s a time for celebrating. New parents often have a sense of amazement that they have been able to create something so beautiful and well formed. Holding your new-born baby in your arms can make you think deeply about the wonder and meaning of human life.

The birth of Jesus is an exciting event for you. It can fill you with a sense of amazement. It is something for you to think deeply about and to praise God for. This is because this baby comes as your saviour. God’s plans to rescue you are coming true. The birth of Jesus means new life also for you.

During this new year keep remembering that special baby born in Bethlehem. Think deeply about what his birth means for you. Keep being amazed at how far God is prepared o go to save you. Keep praising God for what he does for you.

Father, give me a deep understanding of what Jesus’ birth means for me. Amen.
