LCA bishop out of hospital
LCA Bishop John Henderson has been discharged from hospital in Namibia, Africa, as he continues to recover well after suffering a heart attack there on Saturday (13 May).
Bishop Henderson, who is in Namibia to represent the LCA at the Lutheran World Federation Assembly in Windhoek, was admitted to hospital on Saturday and had two stents inserted to open narrowed veins after the attack.
He has spoken with his wife, Valmai, in Adelaide, and LCA Secretary Rev Neville Otto said it was still hoped Bishop Henderson would be able to return home to Australia later this week as planned.
Rev Otto and LCA Assistant Bishop Rev Dr Andrew Pfeiffer asked people to continue to pray for Bishop Henderson in an e-newsletter sent out yesterday on behalf of the church’s College of Bishops.
‘We thank God for his progress and thank you as you pray’, they said. ‘Please keep Bishop John, his wife Valmai, their family, and all who care for Bishop John in your prayers at this time. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, encourages us to come to him with our needs and is with us always.’
