Jesus is with you

7 April 2017

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked him, ‘Do you believe in the Son of Man?’ The man answered, ‘Tell me who he is, sir, so that I can believe in him!’ Jesus said to him, ‘You have already seen him, and he is the one who is talking with you now’. `I believe, Lord!’ the man said, and knelt down before Jesus. (verses 35-38)

Read John 9:24-41

Speaking up for Jesus often carries a cost. For the blind man Jesus healed, that cost was expulsion from the synagogue. That was virtually the same as being shut off from God. How confused this poor man must have been. What kind of God, he must have wondered, gives with the one hand and smites with the other? Then something wonderful happened. Jesus came looking for him. How ironic that this man who had been thrown out of God’s house was now sought out by God’s own Son.

When you are at your lowest ebb, Jesus comes looking for you too. When you are confused, lonely or afraid, that is when he draws nearest. When you have taken a stand for him and have paid a costly price, Jesus is there with you. When others desert you, his Spirit of peace will comfort your heart.

Yes, faithfulness to Jesus can come at a cost, but the rewards—the rewards are priceless.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for seeking me out when I am confused and lonely. Thank you for sticking with me, even if all others desert me. Amen.
