Who was Martin Luther?

22 March 2016

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As the 500th anniversary of the Reformation approaches, many people are asking ‘Just who was this man Martin Luther?’

The first DVD in a three-part series on Luther is an excellent resource to help answer that question. Available now from Lutheran Media, the DVD provides insights about the man who stood up to the Catholic Church and spread the word about the grace, mercy, and undeserved kindness of Jesus Christ.

A Man Named Martin is a fresh look at an individual who, down through the centuries, has significantly influenced the Christian church. All the details of Luther’s life are included in the three-part series: his childhood with his parents Hans and Margaret, his university pursuits, his decision to become a monk, his protestation against Catholic practices, his scholastic output, his life in hiding, and his roles as husband and father – are all considered in this series.

In A Man Named Martin –
Part 1: The Man
viewers encounter the 15th-century religious reformer who was originally a monk. Luther’s Spirit-inspired grasp of God’s justification of sinners through faith in the Saviour was the cornerstone of the Reformation.

In this five-session Bible study, Luther’s life and times are examined through the lenses of history, religion and theology.

You can view and download the videos or order the DVD version that comes with a printed discussion guide for $15 at the Lutheran Media website; or call Lutheran Media on 1800 353 350. You can order more printed discussion guides too, for $2 each.

Pastor Richard Fox is the Director for Lutheran Media.

Your requests:

‘I saw your Martin Luther videos on your website and was wondering if I could get a DVD version for my small group that meets every Thursday. I’m interested in learning more about Martin Luther as a person.’

Margaret, Bordertown

‘I was wondering how I could get a copy of the Martin Luther videos for my friendship group. Thanks.’

Lorraine, Para Vista

‘I have forwarded a link for this to some of my friends, one of which is a fallen away Lutheran who was profoundly and deeply moved by Luther’s example of integrity and humility. I would like to add how much I appreciated the accuracy of the commentary and witness of the gospel throughout each part.’
