Mrs Glenice Hartwich was installed in the Lutheran Church’s senior international mission role on 7 February by LCA Bishop John Henderson at St John’s Unley, South Australia.

She is the first lay person and the first woman to be appointed to the LCA’s top international mission post. In the role, known as Assistant to the Bishop – International Mission, Glenice will represent the bishop as she works with the LCA’s partner churches in South-East Asia.

Glenice had been serving as Interim Mission Director and Program Officer since early 2015. Preaching on 2 Corinthians 3:12 – 4:2, Bishop Henderson said St Paul based his whole life and ministry on confidence in Christ, and that Glenice showed that same bold faith, along with a humble nature.

‘She has been, and continues to be, a very fine ambassador for Christ in each and every encounter as she travels, ministers, and witnesses’, he said, then encouraged her with these words: ‘In Christ we know you will never give up but will always speak freely of Jesus, showing all people everywhere the glory of the Lord’.
