ALC sustains enrolment growth
After last year’s strong growth in student numbers at Australian Lutheran College (ALC), the positive trend has continued in 2026, with 44 active ministry and theology students enrolled for Semester 1. Of this cohort, 19 students are female, and 25 students are male.
Twelve students are discerning a General Ministry Pastor pathway, and 15 students are engaged in Specific Ministry Pastor training opportunities. In addition, ALC has 11 students undertaking a Bachelor of Counselling degree and 26 students participating in studies as part of LEA’s Leadership Development Program (LDP), which is run every two years.
ALC Principal Dr Tim Stringer said it was ‘heartening to see students from all over Australia and New Zealand, and even internationally, engaging in study’. ‘Please share ALC’s enrolment good news with your congregations and those around you and join us in thanking God for each and every one of these students,’ he said.
In addition to providing online webinars, ALC’s distributed learning approach routinely brings students together for intensive periods of study. Already this year, ALC has delivered an intensive in Brisbane for ministry and theology students, an intensive in Melbourne for counselling students and the LDP cohort has gathered in Adelaide for a two-day workshop.
More intensives are scheduled to be run in Adelaide in July. While intensives are held specifically to cater for the needs of enrolled students, the next series will include two professional development opportunities for pastors and lay workers: Introduction to Christian Mission (15–18 July) and Coaching and Mentoring (24–25 July).
