Discover how faith meets farming in latest podcast

13 August 2025

Lutheran Media, in partnership with Lutheran Earth Care, received a grant from the Lutheran Church of Australia’s Special Ministry Fund to launch a new two-part podcast series, ‘Caring for Creation’. This inspiring series explores how our faith connects with our care for the environment, encouraging thoughtful stewardship of God’s creation.

Part 2 now available: ‘Land and Farming’

In part 2, Tania Nelson from Lutheran Media meets with David Elliot, a former suburban Sydney boy who now lives off the land as a farmer in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills. David shares his reflections on appreciating the land and all it has to offer and giving thanks to our wonderful creator God, who has made everything with purpose.

‘I think if we really take to heart that we’re actually God’s creation ourselves and he wants to work with us, then we can make a huge difference in the way we manage the land that we’ve been granted. We’re only custodians for a short time, but we can make a difference,’ David says.

Watch the seven-minute video with David on YouTube at https://youtu.be/8VeYXR6wbkA or listen to the full podcast at www.messagesofhope.org.au/creation-care-part-two

In case you missed it: Part 1 – ‘Home and Community’

The first episode, ‘Home and Community’, features Cathryn Hamilton, an environmental advocate and educator in sustainable urban futures. She shares insights into how everyday choices in our homes and communities can reflect God’s love and care for the earth.

New resource: ‘To hope and act with creation’

Alongside the podcast, Lutheran Media has also released a new booklet, ‘To hope and act with creation’, written by Neil Bergmann. The resource explores the complex beauty of creation and our response to care for what God has entrusted to us.

Download the booklet at www.messagesofhope.org.au/creation-booklet and share it with your community.
