All things new

21 February 2020

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Then the one who sits on the throne said, ‘And now I make all things new!’ He also said to me, ‘Write this, because these words are true and can be trusted’. And he said, ‘It is done! I am the first and the last, the beginning and the end. To anyone who is thirsty I will give the right to drink from the spring of the water of life without paying for it. Those who win the victory will receive this from me: I will be their God, and they will be my children.’ (verses 5-7)

Read Revelation 21:5-8

I have a friend who, as a boy, was living with his family in Berlin at the end of World War II. He has spoken about the terrible hardships they endured at that time. The city was in ruins and the country’s institutions were shattered. There was no proper housing. People were starving. But gradually the country was rebuilt, largely with help from the USA’s Marshall Plan. Democratic institutions and commercial activity were re-established. Eventually the country returned to being one of the strongest economies in Europe.

God is taking action to make everything in the world new again. The devil has left the world in ruins. People’s lives are shattered. There is terrible suffering, and people are starving. Jesus is God’s Marshall Plan. He comes to repair the damage, provide for people’s needs and bring security and stability. He comes to rebuild ruined lives.

Jesus comes to repair the damage in your life too. He comes to make everything new again. He brings you new life and new hope. Let him take over the rebuilding of your life.

Lord Jesus, repair the damage in my life. Make everything new again. Amen.
