In the line
Many nations will come streaming to it,
and their people will say,
“Let us go up the hill of the Lord,
to the Temple of Israel’s God.
He will teach us what he wants us to do;
we will walk in the paths he has chosen.
For the Lord’s teaching comes from Jerusalem;
from Zion he speaks to his people.” (verses 2c,3)
Read Isaiah 2:1-4
We were visiting Sea World on the Gold Coast and stood waiting in line to go into one of the attractions. While my family and I were talking and laughing together, I looked behind and in front of me. Hundreds of others, many from cultures other than my own, were doing the same thing. I lightly remarked to my husband that this is what it will be like when we are waiting to go into heaven.
A fanciful picture perhaps, but a reminder to me of the Bible’s words that there will come a time when many peoples and nations will come together, not just for a passing attraction and then part ways, but forever, to praise the God who has saved them.
I’ll see you there.
Lord God, help me to anticipate the time when your people will be together in heaven to praise you forever. Amen.
