Everything comes through Christ

Jesus left the synagogue and went to Simon’s home. Simon’s mother-in-law was sick with a high fever, and they spoke to Jesus about her. He went and stood at her bedside and ordered the fever to leave her. The fever left her, and she got up at once and began to wait on them.  (verses 38, 39)

Read Luke 4: 38-44

‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth’, Jesus says (Matthew 28:18). We often forget that he is in full control of everything. We don’t have to struggle by ourselves, because he has opened the door for us to draw on his endless grace and goodness. ‘If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it’ (John 14:14). That’s the kind of Saviour that you have!

Go to him with all your needs. Talk to him about how you feel and the pain that you are going through. And always remember that there is nothing too big or too small for him to handle. He is in control, and he has promised to provide you with what you need.

And as he heals your hurts, listen carefully as he goes on to speak his word of forgiveness to you in love. Then thank him for it all.

Jesus, thank you for your endless grace and mercy to me. Heal me when I am sick. Heal me from what sin has done to me. Make me whole. Amen.
