Remember me, Lord

17 February 2018

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Remember, O LORD, your kindness and constant love
which you have shown from long ago.
Forgive the sins and errors of my youth.
In your constant love and goodness,
remember me, LORD!
(verses 6, 7)

Read Psalm 25: 1-10

A man hung dying on a cross. The guilt of his sinful past weighed heavily on him. He knew that he had sinned, and he openly confessed it for everyone to hear. His only hope lay in the man beside him, also hanging on a cross. ‘Remember me, Jesus, when you come as King!’ (Luke 23:42), he prayed, and as he prayed a smile of deep inner peace came over his face. He had been forgiven.

‘Remember me. Lord, I depend on you. I depend on your kindness and constant love, even though I do not deserve it. You are the only one I can tum to. Forgive the sins of my youth. Lord, forgive me all my sins. Remember me, Lord.’

And as he turns to you in love, you too will hear his voice, ‘Your sins are forgiven. Go, and sin no more.’ And there will be peace.

Jesus, remember me when you come as King. Forgive me all my sins and fill me with your peace. Amen.
