THE LAST SUNDAY OF THE CHURCH YEAR
As the church year draws to a close, the readings begin to reflect themes of eschatology, that is, the ‘last things’. The ‘Last Sunday of the Church Year’ may be seen as a day when the focus is on God’s ‘fulfilment’ of his judgment and salvation. For us Christians, this is at the same time the ‘fulfilment’ of the hope to which we were called at our baptism.
