Dramatising the Readings
The readings can be read by more than one person to make the dramatic meaning of the text clearer.
The gospel could be mimed or acted out. The pastor could read the part of the narrator, and an older woman could play the part of Elizabeth. A younger woman – or even perhaps a member of the congregation who is pregnant – could play the part of Mary. If verses 46-55 (the Song of Mary) are included in the reading, the woman playing Mary could sing these verses (see the music suggestions for the Gospel), or the congregation could sing or say them responsively.
