The service on Good Friday is the second part of the Three Days to Easter (Triduum) celebration. This service is one of the most ancient in the heritage of the Western Christian church. Good Friday was the original fast day of the early church. It existed before the period of Lent was established, and even before the development of the rest of Holy Week. The service is sparse and simple.
