Wisdom
When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice. (verse 28)
Read 1 Kings 3:16-28
I saw a sign the other day that read, “Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.”
This made me laugh. However, wisdom is much more complicated than that. For me, wisdom is a combination of several things: a higher perspective; vast knowledge; excellent discernment; significant experience; and a clear sense of morality. The bible says ‘the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Psalm 111:10,Proverbs 1:7, 9:10). This hits it right on the mark. Who is the embodiment of all wisdom’s attributes? The Lord himself. Indeed, the fear, respect and reverence for the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It is knowing and trusting that the Lord’s way is higher than your way. The rest is about obedience.
What would you say constitutes wisdom?
Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to seek you in my decision making. Give me your wisdom and help me to follow in your way. Amen.
