Whatever – God is there
God is our shelter and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken
and mountains fall into the ocean depths;
even if the seas roar and rage,
and the hills are shaken by the violence. (verses 1-3)
Read Psalm 46
Even when you’re all alone
Even when physical disaster ravages your home
Even when everything, just everything seems to be against you
Even when you are frightened out of your wits
Even when your best mate dies
Even when tragedy upon tragedy disturbs the calm of life
Even when you’re in a rush
Even when you need to change your job
Even when you have to speak in front of others
Even when you’re getting divorced
Even when you’ve had a huge argument with a loved one
Even when you’re about to sit for your driver’s test
Even when you’ve lost your glasses
Even when you’re lost in a city without a map
Even when you’re unable to meet a deadline
Even when you burn the dinner you’ve prepared for guests
Even when you face betrayal by those you thought were your friends.
Even when you are totally helpless to alter the course of events –
God is there. He is ever ready to keep you sheltered in his arms. You are safe and secure. You need not be afraid.
Lord, I feel your love and care for me as I come into your shelter. Nothing can separate me from your powerful love. Amen.
