The one who is worthy
Then I saw a Lamb standing in the centre of the throne, surrounded by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb appeared to have been killed. It had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God that have been sent throughout the whole earth. The Lamb went and took the scroll from the right hand of the one who sits on the throne. (verses 6,7)
Read Revelation 5:6-14
The supernatural world that John describes may not be one you’d want to spend a moment in, let alone eternity. Perhaps you’ve wondered if you would be fried in such company. But here is the glorious turning point in this book. There is someone, only one, who is worthy to open the scroll of your destiny; only one who can make you worthy before the one who sits on the throne. And this one is not, as you might expect, a lion, but a lamb. A slaughtered lamb at that. A lamb who has already taken the beating for you. A lamb who cried out in terror as the wrath of the holy one consumed him. A lamb who bled and died on heaven’s great high altar. So that you do not have to fear the one who sits on the throne. So that you will never know the wrath of God but only his tender love and mercy.
Jesus alone is worthy to take the scroll. He alone is worthy of your unending praise.
Dearest Jesus, there are no words to describe your love for me. I worship you with all of my life. Amen.
