Strong like an eagle
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He keeps me from the grave
and blesses me with love and mercy.
He fills all my life with good things,
so that I stay young and strong like an eagle.
(verses 3-5)
Read Psalm 103:1-8
Sometimes I like to go out into the forest alone, just to sit quietly. Things start to happen away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, far from traffic noises and other people’s conversations. I find that I dwell on the immediate, on the insects and bird song, on the texture of trees and colour of wild flowers. And inevitably my thoughts tum to God and how everything around me was made by his hand. At quiet times like these I become quite the poet. It’s easy to praise God when you are surrounded by proof of his existence.
Take time one day to seek silence and marvel at what God has done for you, and you too will find that it helps you stay ‘young and strong like an eagle’.
Your blessings surround me always, Lord. Help me to see them. Amen.
