Storm warning
Jesus said also to the people, ‘When you see a cloud coming up in the west, at once you say it is going to rain—and it does. And when you feel the south wind blowing, you say it is going to get hot—and it does. Hypocrites! You can look at the earth and the sky and predict the weather; why, then, don’t you know the meaning of this present time?’
(verses 54-56)
Read Luke 12:49-56
It’s so obvious, isn’t it? If you want to know what the weather is like, look out the window. How many jokes have been told about weather forecasters poring over charts, examining satellite photographs, studying barometers and thermometers and still getting the weather predictions wrong simply because they forgot to go outside and look at the sky?
Jesus warns us to be aware of what is going on around us by simply watching with open eyes. Just as you run for shelter when you see a storm coming, run to the Lord when you know you are headed for danger. He is your true protection against the tempests in your life.
Lord, you are my protector and saviour. Show me the path to your side, so that I know you are with me always. Amen.
