Scholarships help spread the gospel
Daniel, Mose and Joseph – men of God for this new season of God’s mission in the world – arrived ‘Down Under’, in Adelaide at the end of July. As recipients of LCA International Mission scholarships, they are studying at Australian Lutheran College (ALC) to further their understanding of Lutheran theology.
Daniel Orn and Mose Lat are pastors of the new and emerging Lutheran Church in Cambodia (LCC). Through the Holy Spirit’s work and an inspiring partnership in the gospel with the Lutheran Church in Singapore, the Lutheran Church of Australia and other international Lutheran churches, the LCC is growing in amazing ways as new believers go and share the good news of Jesus Christ with their friends and families and others in their country.
The… program provides our overseas partner churches with opportunity to have their leaders… apply their learning to ministry and leadership within their own churches.
Joseph Soren has come from earthquake-affected Nepal. As the President of the Nepal Evangelical Lutheran Church and supported in his studies by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bavaria, Joseph is keen to grow more deeply in his understanding of Lutheran theology. The LCA has the privilege of partnering in God’s mission in the world, particularly in the Asian region where we are placed.
The LCA International Mission scholarship program provides our overseas partner churches with the opportunity to have their leaders – men and women – study at Australian Lutheran College and gain from the rich understanding of what it means to be a Lutheran Christian, and how to apply their learning to ministry and leadership within their own churches. Other LCA International Mission theological scholarships are also offered in-country at theological training institutions.
Pray for these men as they study at ALC. Pray for their families at home. Pray for the churches they serve in. Pray that, as they return to their countries at the beginning of October, they will be renewed, refreshed and inspired to continue in their life of faith and service as God uses them to grow his church.
