Rock solid
Who, then, can separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble do it, or hardship or persecution or hunger or poverty or danger or death? As the scripture says,
‘For your sake we are in danger of death at all times;
we are treated like sheep that are going to be slaughtered.’
No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us! (verses 35-37)
Read Romans 8:31-39
There are not too many agreements that are steadfast any more. I mean ‘rock-solid’, ‘won’t budge’ steadfast. A person’s word, for example, isn’t what it used to be. Even when a contract is written on paper, words can be twisted to mean something else, changes and amendments can be made, or the whole contract revoked.
There is, however, one promise that cannot be changed or revoked. It is a rock-solid promise. God’s love for you is a steadfast pact. God’s love remains forever, ‘even when the biggest of mountains has crumbled away. Even when you feel unworthy or unloved, remember that there is nothing in all creation that will separate you from God’s love in Christ Jesus. Jesus is the rock-solid cement who binds you to God’s heart.
Lord, thank you for your steadfast love for me. Free me from all doubt and assure me of this love always. Amen.
