Reveal your wonderful love
Reveal your wonderful love and save me;
at your side I am safe from my enemies.
Protect me as you would your very eyes;
hide me in the shadow of your wings
from the attacks of the wicked. (verses 7- 9)
Read Psalm 17:1-9
Recently while I was en route by plane to Queensland, a lens of my glasses popped out of its frame. I had several hostesses searching under my seat, under people’s feet, under luggage in an attempt to find it. I left my address with the luggage claim office in case the cleaners found it.
I can’t do without my glasses. They are so precious, revealing a world of books and media of varying kinds, a world that would otherwise be closed to me.
When I got home I emptied all the contents of my duffle bag on the floor. Sure enough, at the bottom of the bag was the missing lens. Refitting the lens and using my glasses made me extremely happy. I could see clearly.
The lens of God’s love in Jesus Christ will never be lost or broken. Sit at his feet with the psalmist whatever your circumstances, and pray each day, ‘Reveal your wonderful love to me’. He is listening. He is ready. He will do it.
Father, as I travel today, restore my sight. Reveal your love to me in every situation. Amen.
