50.500 faith.freedom.future.
At the General Convention of Synod in 2015, the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) launched the 50.500 faith.freedom.future. initiative for this synodical period to celebrate, commemorate, and focus on the church that God is building. Yellow balloons are our 50.500 symbol because they represent joy, celebration and thanksgiving. Balloons are also associated with children – God’s children, through whom he is building his church for the future.
2016 saw the 50th anniversary of church union, the beginning of the LCA. In 2017 the worldwide church commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. This is a chance for us, as members of the LCA, not only to celebrate and commemorate God’s grace and blessings to us over the decades and centuries, but also to open our eyes to God’s blessings for the future.
Every one of us has something to contribute to our Lutheran family, our Lutheran story, our faith, freedom and future together. Let’s remind each other, and tell the world, that the God who has been faithful to us over all these years isn’t finished with us yet.
You are invited to join this exciting church-wide initiative. You can contribute your own ideas, activities and events, or simply draw inspiration from others. Everything you need to know is on the 50.500 website.
