Our wonderful God
How wonderful are the things the Lord does!
All who are delighted with them want to understand them.
All he does is full of honour and majesty;
his righteousness is eternal. (verses 2,3)
Read Psalm 111
Think about all the wonderful things the Lord does for you. You might like to write them down and make a list. Start with what God has given you: your body (life, breath); your mind (thoughts, intellect, powers of reasoning); your emotions (love, sense of humour); your home (shelter, food, comfort); your community (friends, acceptance); your country (peace, security); your soul (life eternal, forgiveness). This is only a beginning. You could continue by listing all the personal blessings God has given you.
Now go back and praise God for all the things you’ve thought about or written down. This is an exercise you could continue to do every day. I’m sure there will never be a time when you won’t have something to praise God for.
The old song is right when it says:
Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
I praise you, Lord, for all the wonderful things you’ve done and continue to do in my life. Help me never to forget how gracious and loving you are. Amen.
