It’s a relationship thing
The LORD protects the helpless;
when I was in danger, he saved me.
Be confident, my heart,
because the LORD has been good to me.
The LORD saved me from death;
he stopped my tears
and kept me from defeat. (verses 6-8)
Read Psalm 116: 1-9
For me as a parent there are moments that warm my heart and bring joy to my life: a baby’s first wobbly step; a sleepy head on my shoulder; outstretched chubby arms and the lispy voice saying, ‘I love you thiiiiis much!’ They are such simple things. I feel privileged just to share my child’s life, and when I know my love is returned, life seems fulfilled.
How much more joy your Lord feels when you come to him with humble praise, when you say his name with love, when you tell him about your day, when you invite him to join you for the evening meal, when you sing praises to him in his house. God knows everything about you, but sharing your day-to-day life with him still brings him great joy.
Never forget that being a Christian is not a matter of joining a religion. It means entering a relationship with God, one in which he smiles upon your every move.
I love you, Lord. Please share my day with me, today and always. Amen.
