‘Abraham said, “Your brothers have Moses and the prophets to warn them; your brothers should listen to what they say.” The rich man answered, “That is not enough, father Abraham! But if someone were to rise from death and go to them, then they would turn from their sins.” But Abraham said, “If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone were to rise from death.”’ (verses 29-31)

Can you imagine trying to find your way to an important banquet in a strange city with no signposts and no map to help you? It would be madness! You might as well be blindfolded.
God has invited you to his heavenly banquet at the most important location ever! He has given you the bible to show you the way. The whole Bible—the history, the commandments, the prophetic books, the psalms and poetry, the gospel accounts, the letters of the apostles, the apocalyptic books—the whole Bible is a map that points to Jesus Christ. Jesus—who suffered, died, rose again, ascended into glory—he is the road to God’s heavenly banquet. He alone is the way to heaven, the truth about God, and the life everlasting that awaits you when you arrive at God’s heavenly banquet.
Heavenly Father, your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Lead me home to celebrate with all the angels and saints at your heavenly banquet. Amen.
