Do you have enough?
So they went up out of Egypt and came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan. They told him, “Joseph is still alive! In fact, he is ruler of all Egypt:’ Jacob was stunned; he did not believe them. But when they told him everything Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts Joseph had sent to carry him back, the spirit of their father Jacob revived. And Israel said, “I’m convinced! My son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die:’ (verses 25-28)
Read Genesis 45:16-28
Jacob was Joseph’s dad. His dad dearly loved Joseph and when he heard that he was dead his heart broke. O how he must have ached inside for years! But when he receives the news that Joseph is alive and he sees all the gifts that the brothers brought back from Egypt at the command of Pharaoh, his heart is revived! He says, “It is enough, Joseph my son is still alive.” It is enough that Jesus is alive for us as well. And because Jesus rose from the dead and conquered death once and for all, for you, you too can say “It is enough.” Nothing else matters!
What matters most in your life?
Father God, you are all I need. Thank you for the death and resurrection of Jesus. Because he lives I will live for ever also. Amen.
