Church Plant Grants
Church plant grants are for sending congregations or church plants who require financial support for the growth and development of mission and ministry in your locality.
The New and Renewing Churches Grant Booklet is essential reading prior to submitting an application and provides details of grant assessment criteria as well as reporting requirements.
Grant applications are accepted continuously and assessed at the Committee for New and Renewing Churches meetings – generally held three times per year.
Upon receipt of funding, a half-yearly status update report and an annual grant acquittal report is due each year of the funding period.

What we do
We assist churches to begin, evaluate or progress their journey in church planting. We work with church leaders and pastors to build church planting capacity. We provide resources, training opportunities, conferences and a supportive network for church planters and missional communities. By so doing we aim to mobilise the whole church to participate in the work of seeing new believers come to Christ. The aim is to see mature churches that plant churches as the norm.
We work with local congregations and agencies of the church to help them assess opportunities for church planting and we provide mentorship for church leaders and pastors as they embark on this journey. We walk with missional communities and church planters as they establish new groups of believers. This is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach, and it is definitely not another program. We aim to help local congregations and agencies discern what the Spirit is saying to them as they seek to follow him into the world which he has already claimed as his own and in which he is already at work.
New and Renewing Churches exists to serve the kingdom of God by facilitating church planting and renewal. International research indicates that denominations need to plant new congregations at a rate of 3% per year, just to stay still. Our new goal is one of growth, not maintenance. We desire for a 5% growth in congregations and that equates to 23 new churches per year. Ambitious? Absolutely. But let’s not underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit.
