Lutheran Community Sewing Group
As Australia questions how we welcome a stranger, the Lutheran Community Sewing Group in Adelaide has the answer all stitched up. Each Friday volunteers from nearby suburbs and towns welcome new neighbours from South Sudan, Iraq and Afghanistan and teach them how to sew. But what's learnt here is so much more than sewing. Volunteers Helen and Noreen started the group 16 years ago as a way of helping South Sudanese friends settle in.
