A special journey
And so they left, and on their way they saw the same star they had seen in the East. When they saw it, how happy they were, what joy was theirs! It went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. They went into the house, and when they saw the child with his mother Mary, they knelt down and worshipped him. They brought out their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and presented them to him. (verses 9-11)
Read Matthew 2:1-12
You can imagine the wonder of the wise men, in a country to the east of Jerusalem, when they saw a new star in the night sky. Somehow they understood that this new star heralded the birth of a baby born to be the king of the Jews. Excitedly they set off on a journey to take gifts and pay homage to this special child. The same star led them on their journey until it stopped over the house where the child Jesus was.
Joyfully they worshipped the child, who was true God and the Saviour of the world. Joyfully and generously they presented him with their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Are you joyfully worshipping Jesus, true God and Saviour of the world? You may not have an expensive gift to offer, but you can give your heart and life in service to him, so that others can come and worship him too.
Joyfully I worship you, my God and Saviour. Help me to share with others the message of your coming. Amen.
